They Don't Need To Understand - And That's OK

There are moments in life that catch you off guard.

Not because they’re dramatic or life-changing, but because they touch something tender beneath the surface.

Like being asked, “So, what do you do?” - a simple question that can suddenly feel heavy when your path doesn’t fit into neat boxes or familiar labels. If you’ve chosen a path that lights you up but doesn’t quite fit into a those neat, expected boxes… you might know the feeling.

The blank stares.

The awkward pauses.

The confusion - or worse, the subtle dismissals and judegement.

And with them all, a sting of self-doubt.

It’s not just about the question. It’s about the old stories it activates - those long-held beliefs from childhood, family dynamics, or past experiences where you felt misunderstood, too much, not enough, or like you had to justify your worth.

Many people - especially those doing meaningful, soul-led work - have experienced this.

And it can feel hard.

But when you pause, sit with the discomfort, and begin to unravel what’s really there, you might notice something: much of the heaviness comes from a place of wanting to be understood in order to feel valid.

Here’s what life keeps teaching: You don’t need permission to do what you love. You don’t need everyone to understand your path.

It’s not theirs to walk. It's yours.

And that’s not always easy - but it is liberating.

You’re allowed to choose the work, lifestyle, or identity that lights you up - even if no one else sees the spark.

You’re allowed to believe in your worth, your choices, and your vision, without needing a single nod of approval.

If you’ve ever felt the urge to shrink, explain, or change your truth so others will accept it - you’re not alone.

But those moments can become powerful turning points when you choose self-belief instead.

It doesn’t mean you’ll never feel vulnerable again. Healing is layered. Self-worth is a lifelong reclamation.

But every time you choose your truth over external validation, you rise a little more.

Here are some gentle affirmations to help anchor you when those old stories try to creep in:

🌿 Affirmations for Self-Worth and Self-Belief

  • I trust myself to choose what lights me up.

  • My path is valid, even if others don’t understand it.

  • I am worthy, just as I am, and I don’t need to prove anything.

  • I choose self-belief over self-doubt.

  • I release the need for external approval - I validate myself.

  • It’s safe to be seen in my full truth.

  • I honour my journey and walk it with pride.

Let these words be your touchstone when you feel yourself shrinking.

Let them remind you: your worth isn’t up for debate.

Your path doesn’t need an explanation.

You are allowed to rise - fully, freely, and without apology.

With love and belief in your magic,

Alice x
