When The Sunshine Isn't Enough - The Importance Of Vitamin D In Menopause

When I went into menopause, it was a bit of a shock to the system (to put it lightly) - physically, emotionally, and mentally. It was an early menopause (I was 40) and I felt constantly tired, foggy, and honestly, not myself.
I felt like I was in a season of change I hadn’t quite prepared for, and certainly wasn't ready for. And because I wasn’t able to take Hormone Replacement Therapy, I knew I needed to dig deeper and find other ways to support myself.
So, I did what I always do when something feels big and new: I obsessively researched!
I didn’t want quick fixes or surface-level advice, I wanted to understand what was happening to my body and how I could work with it, not fight against it. So I started looking for natural hormone supplements.
And that’s when Vitamin D kept coming up. Again and again.

What Helped Me The Most
When it came to Vitamin D, I knew it had something to do with sunshine, but beyond that? I hadn’t really paid attention.
But the more I read, the more I realised it’s not just a nice-to-have - especially in midlife.
👉 Vitamin D is deeply involved in how we feel, how we move, how we function. 👈
It supports:
Bone health, which becomes even more important as estrogen levels drop
Mood regulation - and let’s be honest, our moods can feel all over the place in menopause (to put it mildly!!)
Immune function - so we’re not knocked down by every bug going around
Muscle strength and energy - again, so important during this phase of our lives!
I also learned that Vitamin D deficiency is really common - especially in women over 40, and especially in places where we don’t get a whole lot of sun year-round.
Add menopause to the mix, and your body’s need for Vitamin D rises just when your ability to naturally produce it starts to fall.
It’s like a perfect storm - and one I didn’t want to ignore.
This Wasn’t About Panic - It Was About Power
For me, learning all of this wasn’t about fear - it was about empowerment.
I wasn’t willing to sit back and just “get through” menopause - I wanted to feel strong, supported, healthy and more like myself.
So I made Vitamin D a part of my daily ritual. Nothing dramatic - just a small, quiet act of support. And after all the research and trial-and-error I did, this was the one supplement that offered me the most support.

The Vitamin D Supplement I Use & Trust
After looking into all the options, supplements, ingridients and manufacturers, I settled on LiveGood’s D3-K2 2000 - and it’s something I genuinely trust and recommend to everyone. Here's why 👇
🌞 It combines Vitamin D3 (the most effective form) with Vitamin K2, which works alongside D3 to direct calcium to the bones (and away from places we don’t want it, like arteries). That pairing is especially important in menopause, when bone health becomes such a priority.
🌞 It’s clean, organic, affordable, well-formulated and with the optimal levels my body needs
If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to feeling better during menopause, Vitamin D might be a good place. It’s simple, but the impact can be powerful - especially when it’s part of a bigger picture of looking after yourself through change.
You deserve to feel well.
To feel strong.
To rise through this season - not just survive it.
And sometimes, it starts with a small step like this. P.S. I only ever recommend things I actually use and love. If you’re curious about LiveGood’s D3-K2, you can take a look at it (and everything else they have - including a daily Hormone Balance supplement here.
